WHAT WE DO

We promote social and cultural integration

We promote social and cultural integration to help build strong social ties between immigrants and locals in a highly diverse community.

We have found some gaps in social integration in our community that lead to a lack of belonging; worse, to mental health and lack of unemployment for a long time.

Research shows that a lack of integration could lead to long-term unemployment due to lack of contact with those in work, the difficulty for companies to recruit from homogenous networks and an increase in anxiety and ill-health — all of which were estimated to cost the Canada economy billions of dollars every year.

We raise funds and sponsor refugees to Canada

We are committed to becoming a lifeline for refugees by sponsoring them to Canada in collaboration with Immigration Refugee and Citizenship Canada. We provide them tangible, emotional, information and companionship support.

We also provide them with temporary shelter, permanent shelter, food, clothing, and such other aid as may be found necessary in attempts to improve their social welfare.  We play a critical role in assisting immigrants to begin the settlement process and to help them make the necessary adjustments for a life in their host society.

To effectively achieve our objectives and bringing transformational change, 2219550 Alberta Society is committed to generating income through running successful fundraising campaigns, membership fees, Friday prayer lunch, Birthday donation, New year donation, Kids program, Collecting Recycle, Viber and WhatsApp group weekend fund raising, Evening meal (coming soon for Ramadan) and etc. Our board members have received community sponsorship training from RSTP to get awareness on the process of undertaking and responsibility.

Our President has successfully completed the RSTP electronic training program, ‘Introduction to Private Sponsorship of Refugees and Settlement Planning’. It is guided by the slogan, “One who knows pain helps others without gain.”

We Empower and inspire community project (EIC)

The EIC is a free, high-quality magazine published in home spoken language; conscious living publication is brimming with exceptional educational content, inspiring immigrants’ history, and a plethora of other empowering resources. It acts as a platform for raising consciousness and creating prosperity for whole community. It is a podium from which the conscious community collectively shares its voice. EIC is all about empowering people, inspiring community, and offering free conscious living publications with excellent educational content. EIC publish the biography of a successful immigrant in our community to inspire others. Our main goal is to inspire the community the possibility of bringing all dreams alive in this country.

We Advance community wellbeing and social welfare

We promote community participation in social, economy, cultural, and political activities that are essential for the community to flourish and fulfill their potential. We accomplish our goal by Enhancing social trust, supporting members living harmoniously together, and empowering members to participate in community and democracy. Their integration into the employment sector is always a challenge and therefore through our networks we seek to help them access employment opportunities which can help them improve their lives and settle down easily.

We promote patriotic culture

2219550 Alberta society is committed to – most of the immigrant lives in the country without having a sense of belongingness and connectedness. The essence of developing a patriotic culture is to ensure that the immigrants develop a sense of belonging and hence their efforts will be focused on becoming more productive in the country they are living. They work here but invest back home. 2219550 Alberta Society is not against investing offshore but advocates promoting local investment to benefit the local community. However, for them to develop a sense of belonging their issues and challenges must be a priority and hence our focus to meet their social and economic needs.

Promoting strong work ethics

The ability to create the right environment that encourages strong work ethics is critical to enhancing the productivity of the immigrant population.  Most of the immigrants are discouraged given the unfavorable working conditions due to lack of Canadian experience.  In this case, we are committed to promoting Canadian strong work ethics and culture that are key to the prosperity of this great nation and preventing them from becoming public charges by helping them to obtain employment of their choice. By promoting a culture of strong work ethics, we enhance the productive capacity of the community and hence guiding them towards improving their lives. Developing work ethics promotes a culture of productiveness is core to bring a change to a community that needs to be integrated into the larger community rather than being isolated. We seek to integrate the immigrants into the existing workforce in different capacities to help them become more productive. Another effective strategy to enhance productivity through work ethics is through supporting employment and entrepreneurship of newcomers to build a stronger economy provide social support, access to jobs, and fill the human need for a sense of belonging. The ability to improve their lives is dependent on how we can engage them through community-based intervention strategies for them to be productive members of the community.

We build confidence, empower immigrant and refugee women

We are in contemporary society where the role of women has significantly changed with more women now equally represented in the workforce as compared to the past there they were considered for domestic purposes. Women in our community came from a male-dominant culture, might have an untold history of violence, and they need special support to help them build their confidence.  As an organization, to get the best out of the women, we must be able to offer them equal opportunities and support them in various initiatives which will enable them to become productive members of the community. We believe that women’s roles in the community should be more than being a wife and giving birth. Mothers are a school where successful children graduate. Parenting has great effects on children. Women’s confidence and self-reliance have a great impact on their children’s success, and hence in collaboration with different parenting experts, we provide parenting education. We have a parenting experience exchange program (PEEP) where immigrant’s women and native Canadian women share experience in parenting. A parent should be real friends to their children in modern society.

We develop Children teaching and education programs

Teaching and education are at the center of community transformation. The ability to teach children on social values, they grow to become productive members of the society. Through education, it is possible for children to identify opportunities where they can be productive. Teaching children and making them understand that Canada is the land of opportunities and that they can achieve what they want to be in life regardless of the current family situation is critical in our service. Teaching focuses on helping them to become self-assertive and not influenced by the current struggle of their immigrant parents. There is a program-Biography of Successful Immigrant Children (BSIC), where we can teach children the biography of successful immigrant children in forms of infographics, pictures, tales, and video. The program therefore acts as a motivational tool to the children as it helps them see a positive side of their story beyond their current situation and restore hope to most of them who are hopeless about the future given the surrounding circumstances of their parents and community.
